Liverpool vs Barcelona

Liverpool vs Barcelona : Liverpool stand in the way of a place in the final for Barcelona for the first time since 2015. Barcelona were finally able to end their Champions League quarter-final curse with a 4-0 aggregate victory over Manchester United to book their place in the semi-finals for the first time since 2015. However, they are up against Liverpool, who are the toughest side left in the competition and have the attacking tools to pose plenty of problems, especially in transition, as well a strong defence marshalled by Virgil Van Dijk.

These two legs are likely to be Barcelona’s toughest challenge of the season, but their reward, if they are able to get past this, is a final against either Tottenham or Ajax who are far from heavyweights in Europe, although they will still pose their own specific problems. Wrapping up the league title against Levante in the previous match has certainly helped their preparation for these two ties, as Ernesto Valverde can afford to rest his key players against Celta Vigo in the match sandwiched inbetween.

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp stated that the Camp Nou wasn't a temple of football, with Ernesto Valverde agreeing ahead of the Champions League semi-final first leg clash between the two teams.Valverde has insisted that Klopp was not willing to offend the Blaugrana."The fans at the Camp Nou have been decisive in recent weeks, with more than 90,000 people coming and you can notice the difference," Valverde said at his pre-match press conference."We notice it and the rivals do as well, and we suppose that tomorrow they will push us on.

That is the verdict of ESPN FC pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley, who says that Liverpool can cause the Spanish champions some problems.

The Reds travel to the Nou Camp on Wednesday for the first leg of their semi-final double header knowing that Messi will again pose the biggest threat.

The Argentina international has been in great form once again this season, netting 46 goals in all competitions.

His double against Manchester United in the last round effectively put the game to bed, but he has never scored against Liverpool.
